The BEST key performance indicator (KPI) to measure the ability to deliver uninterrupted IT services is mean time between failures (MTBF).
MTBF specifically measures the average time between unexpected outages or failures. A higher MTBF indicates IT services are experiencing less unplanned interruptions in service.
In comparison:
A) Unplanned downtime only measures the duration of interruptions, not the gap between them.
A. Mean time between failures
The "Mean time between failures" (MTBF) is a commonly used metric to measure the reliability and stability of a system or service. Specifically, it provides an average time duration between system failures. A higher MTBF indicates that a system or service is more reliable and can deliver uninterrupted services for a longer time before experiencing a failure. This makes MTBF the best KPI among the options provided to measure the ability to deliver uninterrupted IT services.
If the goal is uninterrupted services then unplanned down time would be best indication on how much the service is interrupted. MTBF let's you know system reliability
C: I think unplanned DT is not a KPI it reflect performance but does not measure it directly. I am going with MTTR as its closer to the aim to deliver uninterrupted IT service.
A service can be interrupted in a planned or unplanned way, but the best way to measure the capacity of a service in terms of its reliability is the MTBF and it offers information on two variables: its availability and reliability.
Correction to 'B'.
unplanned downtime is still the better choice because it provides a more direct measure of service availability. While MTBF is a useful KPI for predicting the reliability of a service, it does not directly measure the amount of time that services are actually unavailable.
doesnt mean time between failures affect uninterrupted service by causing unplanned downtime? if you measure A but not B then you miss the entire subset of causes for service interruptions not that do not result from hardware failures.
