Layer 2 of the OSI model is the Data Link Layer, which is divided into two sublayers:
1. LLC (Logical Link Control):
Manages communication between devices and provides flow control and error correction.
2. MAC (Media Access Control):
Controls how devices on the network gain access to the physical medium (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi).
The second of these layers is the Data Link layer (DLL), located between the physical layer (first layer) and the network layer (third layer).
The Internet consists of many hosts and connected devices known as the nodes and networks known as the links. The DLL creates and delivers frames from one node to another along a link.
The main functions of the DLL are:
Framing (Packetizing)
Flow Control
Error Control
Congestion Control
The DLL is divided into two sub-layers to organize its operations and the services provided:
Logical Link Control (LLC)
Media Access Control (MAC)
