This is incorrect. backed up objects are not deleted, they are rebound to the default management class... deleting a mgmtclass only deletes all copygroups under the mgmtclass https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEQVQ_8.1.0/srv.reference/r_cmd_mgmtclass_delete.html
