A - Both the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Council of Europe Convention 108 are concerned with the protection of personal data, and one of the areas they address is the cross-border transfer of personal data. They establish requirements and safeguards to ensure that the transfer of personal data between countries, especially outside the European Union, is conducted in a manner that upholds data protection and privacy principles.
