The checkpoint auto mode feature addresses this problem in an elegant way. The solution includes a timer that you set. The system then creates a checkpoint with the current state, You then make your desired configuration changes, which the system applies, after a confirmation. If the configuration lines did not affect your access, you will be able to confirm the change. If your changes locked you out of the device, confirmation does not occur. The switch thus automatically reverts to the latest snapshot after the time expires. To use this mode issue the following command. Switch# checkpoint auto <minutes> Switch# checkpoint auto confirm
