In an High Availability (HA) cluster, two or more FortiGate devices work together to ensure network operations continue if one device fails. If the primary device fails, another device in the cluster takes over. The synchronization between these devices includes a number of items:
Firewall policies and objects: All changes made to the firewall policy table, and to any objects that the table refers to, are synchronized.
Hostname: The hostname of the FortiGate units is also being synchronized to ensure seamless management and logging.
Other configurations: Other device settings and configurations are also synced, including VPN configurations, routing information, DHCP server settings, and more.
A voting comment increases the vote count for the chosen answer by one.
