Answer is correct, we need to see what the web server sends to the client and if the packet is modified in transit.

I agree. It's likely the client and server are on the same network so the server is sending response directly to client. The client then drops the packet because it is sourced from the server address; not the VS address. Running captures on the client and server would confirm this.
