SATAN (Security Administrator Tool for Analyzing Networks) is an older network scanning tool that was used for identifying potential vulnerabilities in networked systems. However, it is not commonly used today as it was last updated in 1995 and is no longer actively maintained. Nessus, on the other hand, is a more modern and actively maintained tool that is widely used for vulnerability scanning.
