B is a technical measure. Hoaxes are false claims about a specific topic (virus in this case). All the answers are meant to prompt the user to take an action except B

Re-reading the question. It's asking for which is not a symptom of virus hoax A. The message prompts the end user to forward it to his / her e-mail contact list and gain monetary benefits in doing so >> I guess this is not since virus hoax doesn't mention monetary benefits and only aims to scare the user regarding the non-existent virus B. The message from a known email id is caught by SPAM filters due to change of filter settings - not sure about this one C. The message warns to delete certain files if the user does not take appropriate action - virus scare D. The message prompts the user to install Anti-Virus - virus/anti virus scare

Explain: Virus hoax is a false warning about a computer virus. Typically, the warning arrives in an email note or is distributed through a note in a company's internal network. These notes are usually forwarded using distribution lists, and they will typically suggest that the recipient forward the note to other distribution lists

That's not how it's meant though, it's supposed to motivate YOU to forward it by promising you money. Not that the "attacker" earns money.
