NetStumbler is one of the best valued tools by the users for a few years now to detect local area networks (WLAN) with the standards 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g.
The program does a brief check showing all the existing networks in the area that the receptor can receive and which state each one is in.
NetStumbler also allows us to verify that our network is correctly configured studying the network coverage in different places. It can also calculate the interferences that other networks can cause on our signal or detect non-authorised access points.
In this sense, the program can also be quite useful to determine the direction the antenna should be in to receive a better coverage.
