[All 312-50v13 Questions]

As a cybersecurity consultant for SafePath Corp, you have been tasked with implementing a system for secure email communication. The key requirement is to ensure both confidentiality and non-repudiation. While considering various encryption methods, you are inclined towards using a combination of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. However, you are unsure which cryptographic technique would best serve the purpose. Which of the following options would you choose to meet these requirements?

  • A. Apply asymmetric encryption with RSA and use the private key for signing.
  • B. Use the Diffie-Hellman protocol for key exchange and encryption.
  • C. Apply asymmetric encryption with RSA and use the public key for encryption.
  • D. Use symmetric encryption with the AES algorithm.

Selected Answer: A
Answer: A My reasoning: o Both A and C looks correct – this is either multi-choice question or if not, I would choose A because using asymetric encryptions with RSA ensures confidentiality (as required by question) and signing with private key ensures non-repudiation - as you sign the document by your private key, then everyboty can verify your signature (i. e. hash of the document encrypted by your private key = digital signature) by using your public key – and you can’t disclaim / repudiate that you have signed it. o C) does not mention non-repudiation at all, even the answer sounds correct regarding encryption (confidentiality) – encrypting messages with public key of the recipient, so only they can decrypt it by their private key.

Selected Answer: C
Company requires a secure email communication system that ensures both confidentiality and non-repudiation. To achieve this, a combination of symmetric and asymmetric encryption is the best approach. Here's why option C is the most suitable: - Confidentiality – This ensures that only the intended recipient can read the email. - Non-repudiation – This guarantees that the sender cannot deny sending the email.
