Deduplication occurs inline when data is destaged from the cache tier to the capacity tier. Deduplication uses SHA 1 with a 4 KB fixed block size and is applied within each disk group. Redundant copies of a block within the same disk group are reduced to one copy. However, redundant blocks across multiple disk groups are not deduplicated.
