D. An IBSS is used instead of a BSS: In an IBSS (Independent Basic Service Set), also known as an ad hoc network, devices communicate directly with each other without a central AP. In an IBSS, all participating stations generate Beacon frames to announce the network, using the same BSSID but with different source addresses (the MAC addresses of each individual station). This is the only configuration that would result in multiple stations broadcasting Beacons with the same BSSID but different source addresses.
