Selected Answer: B
B. Wireless router Explanation: A wireless router is responsible for managing network traffic, security settings, and port forwarding on a home network. To allow inbound connectivity for chat functions on a gaming console, users typically configure port forwarding or UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on the router to permit external connections. Why Not the Other Options? A. Cable modem – A modem only provides Internet access; it does not manage network traffic or allow inbound connectivity. C. Access point – An AP extends Wi-Fi coverage but does not handle security or port forwarding settings. D. Network switch – A switch connects devices within a network but does not manage Internet traffic or security settings.

Selected Answer: B
The correct answer is: B. Wireless router Explanation: In a home network, the wireless router (or sometimes just called a router) typically acts as the gateway between the local area network (LAN) and the Internet. To allow inbound connectivity for services like gaming chat functions, the user would need to configure port forwarding or a DMZ (demilitarized zone) on the router. This ensures that the necessary ports are open and that incoming data for those ports is directed to the appropriate device, in this case, the gaming console.

Its B. Most/all modern wireless routers have firewall functionality that would acheive this

Isn't the cable modem for a cable television network? Most of the AccessPoints/ WiFi routers nowadays come with the modem integrated into them. AFAIK, the modem don't have any firewall rules to block traffic ???

For my understanding, the gaming console is the one that needs to configure/add access to inbound traffic (information that comes-in to a network) so the device that allows this is an ethernet cable (cable modem, answer A) so you connect the console directly to the modem to have access

I wouldn't connect a gaming console directly to the modem though, the modem needs to be plugged into either a switch or a router
