A project team is overseeing the installation of a new reptile habitat at the local zoo. During execution, zoo personnel decides to house a different type of reptile that will require a different temperature range than the capacity of the installed system. The modification has been approved.
Which of the following constraints are MOST likely to be affected? (Choose two.)

  • A. Quality because the existing system is now outside the threshold.
  • B. Requirements because this is a change to initial scope.
  • C. Cost because replacing the system incurs additional expense.

I read somewhere that because the change was approved, it would now be considered within scope, therefore not B. My own thought was because it is still a place for reptiles, the scope did not change....much. Vs. if they scrapped the reptile plan and decided to put in aquarium. Although I almost think an argument can almost be made for B, there is a stronger argument for C and D.

I'm going B & A B. Requirements: The decision to house a different type of reptile that requires a different temperature range represents a change to the initial scope of the project. As a result, the project requirements must be updated to reflect this change. A. Quality: The existing system is now outside the threshold because it does not meet the new temperature requirements. Therefore, quality may be affected since the installed system is not fit for the intended purpose.

C. Cost: The cost may be affected if the replacement of the system incurs additional expense. However, the scenario states that the modification has been approved, which means that the decision has already been made not to replace the system. Therefore, cost is not the BEST answer. D. Schedule: This was an unscheduled task and will impact the timeline, so schedule may be affected. However, the scenario does not provide enough information to determine if the timeline will be impacted positively or negatively. E. Stakeholders: While stakeholders will need to understand the modification and provide buy-in, the scenario does not indicate that they will be affected more than the other constraints. Therefore, stakeholders are not the BEST answer.

Can someone explain how this is not B requirements as well? The question states the different type of reptile will REQUIRE a different temperature range.
