An administrator needs to back up all the data from each VM daily while also saving space. Which of the following backup types will BEST fit this scenario?
An administrator needs to back up all the data from each VM daily.... ALL THE DATA and DAILY. Its not whats changed since last backup. So I cant see how Incremental or Differencial are correct. Its Synthetic as it also says to reduce the Size of the Backup.
Incremental backups only backup the data that has changed since the last backup, whether it's a full backup or a previous incremental backup. This means that, on a daily basis, you are only backing up the data that is new or has been modified since the last backup. This approach is efficient in terms of storage space because it doesn't duplicate unchanged data.
Differential backups would back up all the data that has changed since the last full backup. While they are more efficient in terms of storage space than full backups, they are less space-efficient than incrementals for daily backups because they include all changes since the last full backup, not just the changes since the last backup of any type.
Incremental backups only back up the data that has changed since the last backup, which in this case is the previous day's backup. It saves space by not duplicating unchanged data and only capturing the changes made to the VMs since the last backup. This approach ensures efficient use of storage resources.
Each day, the incremental backup will only capture and store the data that has been modified or added since the last backup. As a result, the size of each incremental backup is typically smaller than a full or differential backup, making it more space-efficient
For this scenario (that specifies backup data daily while saving space) I'll go with B) Incremental data
https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/difference-between-incremental-backup-and-differential-backup/
I think the answer is B, because Incremental backup would best fit this scenario as it only backs up data that has changed since the last backup, saving space and providing daily backups of all data in each VM.
Going with B since space is the only real guidance we have. With no mention of speed of restore, this seems to be the answer the questioner is looking for. As always with C*mptia test you need to throw out real world and just look at whats in the question for your guidance.
While B will save the most space, it is very cumbersome to restore since you have to restore each incremental backup as each backup only contains the changes since the last backup, if any of the backups have been corrupted then none of the backups after that would work. where as the differential backup contains all changes since the last full back up, making the restoration process much easier and there is less chance of loosing as much data should one of the differential backup get corrupted. The question is which is more important in the scope of this question and they don't make it real clear.
