Usually the only instance in which a user would update the video card driver are: (1) Because an error display telling them there an update to the card driver and that the driver needs to be installed in order for the device to function correctly; or (2) when the user seeking to use the additional features of the video monitor and they are informed by the operating system that in order to access these additional features they need to insert the video cars driver disk to install these features.
