C. System fan: A bulge in the bottom casing and occasional overheating are often indicative of a malfunctioning or failing system fan. The system fan is responsible for cooling the internal components of the laptop, and if it is not functioning properly, it can lead to overheating issues. B is wrong because A faulty battery can cause issues such as poor battery life or the inability to hold a charge. However, it is not likely to cause a bulge in the bottom casing or overheating.

I once had a user complain that he thought the driver for his touchpad needed to be updated because it wasn't responding. When he came by my desk I saw that the touch was raised well above the frame of his computer. I was like DUDE that is not a driver issues the battery is swelling...

when plugged in the power, the fat runs. Fan might be clogged or dirty not functioning properly. Remember, it is only when the power is plugged in. So the answer is fan.

Selected Answer: B
B. Battery. If the laptop is overheating while plugged in to a wall outlet, it is unlikely that the power adapter is the problem, as the laptop should not be using the battery when it is plugged in. A bulge in the bottom casing of the laptop can often indicate a swelling battery, which is a common problem with older batteries. This can cause the laptop to overheat and can be dangerous, as it can increase the risk of a fire or other safety hazard. Replacing the battery should resolve the overheating issue and restore normal operation of the laptop.
