Selected Answer: B
The drum is the most likely cause of vertical streaks appearing on the output of a laser printer. A laser printer uses a complex process to produce high-quality printed documents. The printer's drum is a critical component in this process, as it is responsible for transferring the image onto the paper. The drum is coated with a thin layer of electrically charged toner, which is attracted to the areas of the drum that have been exposed to the laser beam. When the drum rotates, it transfers the toner onto the paper, which is then fused to the paper by the printer's fuser. If the drum is damaged or worn, it can cause various issues with the print quality, including vertical streaks on the output. Other possible causes of vertical streaks include problems with the printer's roller or transfer belt, or issues with the toner itself.

Selected Answer: B
Vertical streaks on the output of a laser printer are most likely caused by issues with the B. Drum. Here’s a brief explanation of each option: A. Roller: Rollers generally cause issues like paper jams or misfeeds rather than streaks. B. Drum: The drum is a crucial component in a laser printer responsible for transferring toner onto the paper. If the drum is dirty, damaged, or worn, it can cause vertical streaks on prints. C. Transfer belt: The transfer belt moves the image from the drum to the paper and can cause issues, but it’s less likely to cause vertical streaks compared to the drum. D. Ribbon: Ribbons are used in inkjet printers, not laser printers. They are not relevant to this issue. So, if you’re seeing vertical streaks, the drum is the most likely culprit.

The most likely cause of vertical streaks appearing on the output of a laser printer is a problem with the drum (Option B). The drum is a component in a laser printer that transfers toner from the cartridge to the paper. If the drum is damaged or worn out, it can cause issues with print quality, including vertical streaks on the output. Other possible causes of vertical streaks on the output of a laser printer include a dirty corona wire, a nearly empty toner cartridge, or debris on the ADF glass

yes, look for keywords like "FIRST, NEXT" and also make sure you know what the question is asking for. For example "What is the cause of this issue?" then the answer can't be "doing the solution"

vertical lines are 'repetitive defects' and the MOST likely cause is the dirty roller, the drum is also an option if it is damaged or dirty

Question 69 says vertical lines on “every page printed” and the answer is clean the drum. This question says streaks appearing on the “output” instead of page or printout, which makes me wonder if the answer is actually rollers in this case or am I reading too much into some of the comptia wording?

Because there are 3 different rollers in a laser printer, IMHO it is more likely to be caused by one of those rollers than EP Drum. I am going for the answer 'A'.

The Official CompTIA® A+® Core 1 and Core 2 Student Guide (Exams 220-1001 and 220-1002) - Persistent marks—streaks, vertical or horizontal lines, and other marks that appear in the same place (referred to as repetitive defects) are often due to dirty feed rollers (note that there are rollers in the toner cartridge and fuser unit, too) or a damaged or dirty photosensitive drum. Even though this is from CompTIA 1001 core study guide, the same rules still apply. It could be either A or B...
