Best answer is D Explanation: The best option here is to create alerts to let any and all administrators know if a backup failure occures. These alerts would either be created at the network-attached storage (NAS) device or at the individual servers to be backed up. If and admin receives an alert, that person will know to either rerun the back up or (more likely) fix the backup task and the run it. One of the issues here is that you might not know if a backup fails- without the alerts, that is. Incorrect answers: Setting up scripts is good for the backup processes themselves, but you first need to be alerted to an issue before you can script a rerun of the failed backup. In this case, the backups are being stored to a NAS device (on the LAN), so they are not being stored offsite. You should always test a backup the first time it runs and periodically afterwards; however, frequent restoration tests are very time-consuming, not to mention hardware-intensive to the NAS device. Restoring to VM is a good way to test, but it's not good way to ensure rapid recovery, nor is it where the backups are supposed to be restored to; the question says "physical servers." A has to be the right answer..."Frequently restore the servers from backup files and test them". Testing the restorability of the backups after you've created (or think you've successfully created) them is the only way to verify that they will work if and when you'd need them in the future.

I saw A was incorrect according to Dion. It isn't a good idea to test a server that will affect the production environment.

The answer gotta be B because instance recovery enables checking whether the backup system itself is actually working : https://www.networkworld.com/article/3430903/what-is-instant-recovery-a-way-to-quickly-restore-lost-files-and-test-backup-systems.html

Selected Answer: B
The only way to check a backup is bu it's deployment, so part of the answer is by frequantly deployment the backup. On another side, if I backup on the server i incur in the risk of compromising the hole server if the backup is corrupted. Doing this on a virtual machine removed any risk

An untested backup is no backup at all. Two is one, one is none.

Yes, exactly I agree testing/verifying the backup is the only way to know for sure they will work if needed. It would be pointless to have a backup that fails to work when needed.

Answer is D from exam cram because you can't do frequent restorations on a NAS. The best option here is to create alerts to let any and all administrators know if a backup failure occurs. These alerts would either be created at the network attached storage (NAS) device or at the individual servers to be backed up. If an admin receives an alert, that person will know to either rerun the backup or (more likely) fix the backup task and then run it.

getting allerts alone when the backup fail will not ensure that the backup will work. So an additional work needs to be done to ensure it will work. This additional work should not even be a single task, which eliminates the choice B, the tasks are restoring and testing i.e choice A.

As a System Administrator, I need to know that backups can be loaded. An alert that a back up has failed solves literally nothing, it's just an alert. Always test your back ups. Always.

A is correct. B is probably best irl but if you read the logic and grammar of the sentence the backups would be untested. B is focused on faster restoration, not ensuring the backup is good.

A is a correct answer because in the question this (to ensure the backups will work if needed) he ask for test backup not for backup polices

"which of the following will ensure the backups will work if needed." Setting up alerts to let the Admin know when back up fails is not Correct. it pretty obvious that an alert is not going to ensure a back up will work, its just an alert...

I am late to the game, but for anyone that requires it, the right answer is A. It might not be the right answer to you or a live scenario, but for the Comptia exam, the right answer is testing it. You can read this in the A+ complete review guide and it states : "Backup testing While many backup utilities offer a “verification process,” nothing beats actually attempting to restore the data. While test restorations may not be appropriate after every backup, they should be done often to ensure that you have not been creating corrupt backups for days on end." -- again, it may not be what you want, but if you want to pass the exam and it came down to this answer for the test, it is A. Answer D is correct. As if backup fails it is very hard to get alert except the back needs to run for a certain incident. And other options are very time consuming and expensive for a organization as someone needs to be always there to check what if there is 1000 computers.

The only way to fully ENSURE that a backup will work when needed is to restore the files from the backups. To do that, it is best to restore them to a test server since this will not affect your production environment. The only thing alerts do is let you know that something went wrong not ensure that they worked in the first place-Dion
