This is incorrect, it's definitely a toner. How would you possibly use a cable crimper to determine what cable is connected to a patch panel?

A toner probe is used to trace and identify cables by sending a signal through the cable. The technician can use it to locate the port on the patch panel connected to the user's computer when the ports are not labeled.

Toner Probe Many cable testers also incorporate the function of a toner probe, which is used to identify a cable from within a bundle. This may be necessary when the cables have not been labeled properly. The tone generator is connected to the cable using an RJ45 jack and applies a continuous audio signal on the cable. The probe is used to detect the signal and follow the cable over ceilings and through ducts or identify it from within the rest of the bundle.

Selected Answer: C
A toner probe is used to identify a cable within a bundle. It is a 2 component tool, one side will generate a tone, this will be connected to the wall jack where the user's computer is connected. The Probe side will be used to "find" the tone on the patch panel or in the bundle of cables leading up to the patch panel.

Selected Answer: C
C. Toner probe Explanation: A toner probe is a network tool used to identify the correct port on a patch panel. The toner probe is connected to the end of a cable and when the cable is inserted into the correct port on the patch panel, the toner probe sends a tone signal that can be detected by a compatible device. By using a toner probe, the technician can locate the correct port on the patch panel for the user's computer, even if the port and patch panel are not labeled. Note: A network tap is used to monitor network traffic and is not used to identify ports. A punchdown tool is used to terminate wires into a patch panel, but it is not used to identify ports. A crimper is used to crimp connectors onto cables, but it is not used to identify ports.

Selected Answer: C
A toner probe is the most appropriate tool for identifying the port in this situation. The toner probe consists of two parts: a toner, which sends a signal through the cable, and a probe, which detects the signal. The technician can connect the toner to the user's network cable and then use the probe to find the corresponding port on the patch panel by tracing the signal.

Selected Answer: C
Toner probe is the correct answer. A. Network TAP is a device used to split or copy packets for security analysis. This is not relevant to the question at hand. B. Punchdown tool is used for inserting wire into insulation-displacement connectors on punch down blocks, patch panels, keystone modules, and surface mount boxes. This is also not relevant to the question. C. Toner probe is used for identifying corresponding ports on a patch panel. D. Crimper is used to join connectors and cables, or cables and cables. This tool would not help in this situation.
