A concrete pad needs to be laid for a new house and requires three days to cure. The project manager notes that rain may be in the immediate forecast. Which of the following would BEST avoid the risk of rain damage?
A.
Place a tarp over the fresh concrete to protect it.
B.
Refinish the concrete if it rains during that time.
C.
Pour the concrete as quickly as possible to allow the most drying time.
D.
Wait to pour the concrete until rain is not in the forecast.
I thinks its D. Even if you do give the maximum amount of time to dry, it might not be enough before it starts raining. The best solution would be to wait until rain is not in the forecast thus avoiding this risk altogether
I agree with duster below, with concrete you actually would be ok with rain if it was a day later not on day of, of course as concrete needs water. So this is a dumb question hoping you know nothing about concrete.
Oh and the answer is D
Pouring the concrete as quickly as possible to allow the most drying time, is not a good solution either because pouring the concrete too quickly could lead to other quality issues, such as cracking and unevenness.
If the project is in Indiana you wouldn’t want to “pour as quickly as possible” lol. Weather can be very unpredictable. So I think I’m going to go with D.
I believe this is D. This says nothing about needing to get this project done within a certain timeframe. Common sense would say to simply wait as the rain is "immediate."
This is perhaps the worst question I have seen so far, what exactly is this trying to assess? Our understanding of the mechanics of humidity and concrete? The correct answer is to ask a darn SME and to stop trying to pretend you know anything about concrete...
