Shouldn't the answer here be WPA2??? The question is asking about Wireless Security Protocols, and AES is NOT one: it's an ENCRYPTION protocol used by WPA2. WEP, WPA and WPA2 are Wireless Security Protocols, and out of those, WP2 is the most secure, because of the use of the AES encryption. It may seem that means that AES is the right answer, but consider the terms being used here.

Of a certainty, WPA 2 is the correct answer. it uses CCMP (Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol) with AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) instead of TKIP.

I think it is because WPA2 can use TKIP in some cases. AES always implies WPA2 but WPA2 doesn't always imply AES. The question is poorly written. Should have been WPA-AES or WPA-TKIP. Trying to confuse people.

"TKIP is the encryption protocol used in WPA, while WPA2 (which replaces WPA) uses (AES based) CCMP as the encryption protocol." WPA does not use AES and WPA2 does not use TKIP.

WPA2-PSK (TKIP): This uses the modern WPA2 standard with older TKIP encryption. This option isn’t very secure, and is only a good idea if you have older devices that can’t connect to a WPA2-PSK (AES) network. WPA2-PSK (AES) (recommended): Here's the one we want. It's the most secure of the bunch at the moment. It uses WPA2, the latest Wi-Fi encryption standard, and the latest AES encryption protocol. You should be using this option. WPA/WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES): This enables both WPA and WPA2 with both TKIP and AES. This provides maximum compatibility with any ancient devices you might have, but also ensures an attacker can breach your network by cracking the lowest-common-denominator encryption scheme. This TKIP+AES option may also be called WPA2-PSK “mixed” mode. Don't be fooled, this is not the standard you want to be using.

AES Is Advance Encryption Standard, not a protocol. WPA2 is currently the most secured, wifi protocol though it uses bit 256 AES

From the great book of Mike Meyers: "...wireless security protocols, covering WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3." "Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) A block cipher created in the late 1990s that uses a 128-bit block size and a 128-, 192-, or 256-bit key size."

So if I get this question on the exam and answer C I am still wrong. Makes sense and I could fail because of it.

The answer is WPA2-AES. But this is CompTIA World, where the best way to get a tan is to stick your head in a mircowave. I said best, not safest. AES for the 71%. ;_;

WPA2 can also use TKIP but mostly use AES for updated devices, I think they choose AES because wpa2 can also support TKIP which is not secure, so to my knowledge here they want a no risk answers but then again the question so not right because they said security protocol and AES is a type of encryption but I would just go with AES because it's the latest secure encryption.

A is correct. This is right out of google. WPA2-PSK (AES): This is the most secure option. It uses WPA2, the latest Wi-Fi encryption standard, and the latest AES encryption protocol.

The Answer should be WPA2 as that is the most advanced encryption standard being used today until WPA3 becomes adopted, AES is the cipher used to decrypt the encoding for WPA2, AES is NOT an encryption standard in itself, AES is a cipher, there is a huge difference between encryption protocol and a cipher. WPA2 is the correct answer though

Technically it appears that it should be WPA2. AES is not a security protocol. AES is an encryption protocol standard. WPA2 is a security type. However AES is actually an encryption protoco. It stands for an encryption standard but IT IS an encryption protocol. I would go with the brain dumb answer.
