A key stakeholder has communicated a significant project scope change to the project manager. Which of the following actions should the project manager take FIRST?
C
When a key stakeholder communicates a significant project scope change to the project manager, the project manager should take the following actions first:
-Acknowledge the request: The project manager should acknowledge the scope change request and let the stakeholder know that they have received it.
-Evaluate the impact: The project manager should evaluate the impact of the scope change request on the project's overall objectives, timeline, budget, and resources. This includes assessing the risks and identifying any dependencies that may be affected.
So to help everyone out I'll add a few notes to the items listed below. Hope this helps!
CompTIA's 5-step Change Management Process:
1 - Identification --- Stake holder has communicated the request to the PM.
2 - Documentation --- PM should estimate its impact on project cost, schedule and any other constraints and then document it as well and complete the Change Request Form
3 - Analysis of impact --- CCB uses the documented PM impact estimate provided on the change request documentation.
4 - Course of action (approve/reject)
5 - Update related plans -- Communicate the changes to all involved.
