(Option B) seems a more relevant precaution when switching networks. Network drives on the corporate network might not be accessible over the hotel’s network and could cause errors or issues.

C is the answer because since you are using corporate resources on a public network you need to setup your proxy to use a VPN, as you are not too allow data into public networks. Thats a no bueno

Selected Answer: C
Many corporations use a proxy server to filter employee Internet access, and when you’re on their corporate network, you need to set your proxy settings within the Web browser (and any other Internet software you want to use). A proxy server is software that enables multiple connections to the Internet to go through one protected computer. Applications that want to access Internet resources send requests to the proxy server instead of trying to access the Internet directly, which both protects the client computers and enables the network administrator to monitor and restrict Internet access. Each application must therefore be configured to use the proxy server from all in one by Mike Meyers

It mentions network resources are also accessable via a cloud. From what I'm understanding is when they are in the office, it's faster if the drives are mapped for speed, but when out and about, cloud availability still lets them stay connected while going through a more secure source? Thus unmapping the drives makes sense to me?

Mapping a drive means the drive will show up in File Explorer as a selectable resource, just like a local drive. I guess that's not a good idea if you're connecting to a hotel Ethernet, so I would go with B.

I hate questions like these. To many unknown variables. Dos the user work for the hotel and is using it's local corporate network? Is the user accessing an outside corporate network through a vpn? Is the user working while on the corporate network and wants to switch to the "hotel network" for personal use? I have to assume the latter, which means B would be correct. If the user is switching to the "hotel network" he/she would want to unmap all network drives on their device so as not to allow access to other users on the new network.

The employee is going to connect to one or the other at a time, not both. He either be with VPN to his corporate network or use the Hotel internet. The hotel desk can do is recommend change the proxy settings for the guest to access the hotel network. The guest can weigh the security concern and decide on it. But the help desk has no way of knowning the concerns of the guest.

Thanks for sharing the article. If the user unmap the network drive they can't access the company files locally and I am pretty sure the user still wants to access it to do their work. What you could do is change the wifi proxy server to protect your identity online or access the internet when you are in a business network.

Mapping a network drive makes it available to other users on a common network. Improved security: Proxy servers provide security benefits on top of the privacy benefits. You can configure your proxy server to encrypt your web requests to keep prying eyes from reading your transactions. You can also prevent known malware sites from any access through the proxy server.

im assuming that this is some sort of security question because the user is a hotel and they are notorious for users on their network doing shady stuff. with the being said im leaning towards proxy settings or unmapping the drives. not sure exactly what would be the best option here.

it's related at the network bandwidth : Fast ethernet is not very fast, removing map drive save some bandwidth

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense. Fast ethernet is 100Mb/s... it's not the fastest but get any job done, and network drive mapping has nothing to do with bandwidth saving. I think the right answer is C. Enterprise networks use proxys, and you must change the computer proxy configuration if you want to get internet connectivity through other networks.

I'd also select B because others don't seem right, but I don't know the reason though. Can someone explain ? Is it related to security thing ?
