im confused are we taking a reading comprehension test or a security test? This question has nothing to do with testing one's knowledge of cyber security. CompTIA needs to step their game up.

Haha .... seriously. Always and always two options are straight away BS. From the remaining ones you need to be able to figure out what fits best in the context of the question

My name says it all. But for this one I will throw out a pro tip that if BIA is involved it's always regarding mission critical systems.

Answer is B A single point of failure (SPOF) is a person, facility, piece of equipment, application, or another resource for which there is no redundancy in place. If such a resource goes down, any system or process of which it is an essential part will come to a halt.

this is what I came out with, while reading this question carefully. This process happens before Single Point of Failure, but both of those processes are part of BIA. CompTIA did try to trick us. but this question does not talking about single Point of failure that could effect the whole network or all of the systems on the same network. It talk about process that can Identify a single system, person and such on the network. And that is a key here disregard everything else.

The BIA identifies mission-essential functions and critical systems that are essential to the organization's success. It also identifies maximum downtime limits for these systems and components, various scenarios that can impact these systems and components, and the potential losses from an incident. Business Impact Analysis Steps 1. Identify critical business functions and processes. 2. Identify critical dependencies that support those functions, such as staff, vendors, systems, and equipment. 3. Rank the criticality levels of processes / systems and analyze impact over time. 4. Identify customers downstream from critical functions and processes. 5. Set the scope for building your organization’s business continuity plans.

From the Comptia Official study guide: To support the resiliency of mission essential and primary business functions, it is crucial for an organization to perform the identification of critical systems. This means compiling an inventory of its business processes and its tangible and intangible assets and resources. These could include: People (employees, visitors, and suppliers). •Tangible assets (buildings, furniture, equipment and machinery (plant), ICT equipment, electronic data files, and paper documents). Intangible assets (ideas, commercial reputation, brand, and so on). Procedures (supply chains, critical procedures, standard operating procedures).

From Gibson's guide: "A single point of failure is a component within a system that can cause the entire system to fail if the component fails." BIA "[...] helps an organization identify critical services and address single points of failure." "Redundancy and fault-tolerance strategies help eliminate single points of failure for critical systems." The above excerpts show that actually we are talking about two concepts that are strictly related to each other; the truth is that the BIA addresses BOTH, the critical systems AND the single points of failure within them. As usual these CompTIA questions are blurred and vague: the result is that even though the concepts are crystal clear in your mind, nevertheless you won't be able to answer these kind of questions with a sufficient margin of certainty. Compare this question with the question n.467 topic1 of this dump, (where "crytical systems" in my opinion would be the best choice over "mission-essential function").

A. A business impact analysis (BIA) is an important part of a BCP. It helps an organization identify critical systems and components that are essential to the organization's success. These critical systems support mission-essential functions. The BIA also helps identify vulnerable business processes.

B? " any one system, person, function, or service" seems to indicate a single point of failure. "One" and "single".

A. Guess you need to first determine which ones are the critical systems before you look to see if it might be a single point of failure.

The question is saying they are performing an analysis to identify the single points of failure, What is that analysis? Identifying critical systems
