A network administrator recently upgraded a wireless infrastructure with new APs. Users are reporting that, when stationary, the wireless connection drops and reconnects after 20 to 30 seconds. While reviewing the logs, the administrator notices that the APs are changing channels. Which of the following is the most likely reason for the service interruptions?

  • B. Roaming misconfiguration
  • C. Network congestion

Selected Answer: A
Users report issue when stationary. Channel interference could cause the APs to auto configure to a less congested channel.

Selected Answer: A
the disruption or degradation of a wireless signal caused by other devices operating on the same or overlapping radio frequencies (channels), leading to reduced network performance like slower speeds and unreliable connections Overlapping channels: Most commonly, interference occurs when nearby APs are set to channels that partially overlap with each other, causing signal collisions. Multiple sources: Interference can come from various devices like other Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, or cordless phones operating on similar frequencies. Impact on performance: When interference is high, devices struggle to receive clear signals, resulting in slower data transfer rates, packet loss, and increased latency.

Selected Answer: B
First off, channel interference sounds like it could be related to the APs changing channels. If multiple APs are in use at once and they're using nearby frequencies, that might cause signal overlap or interference between them. But I'm not entirely sure if that's the most likely reason here. Then there's Roaming misconfiguration. roam misconfig could mean something about how the AP is being managed as it moves around the network. If the AP isn't properly configured to change channels when needed, maybe this causes signal changes or disruptions. That seems plausible too.
