Only verifying the hash of the patch does not guarantee it would work without any issue, it only guarantees the integrity of the patch file. downloading the switches config will ensure that the upgrade could be rollback in case the patch fall short of the expectation, and does making option C the best answer. although I also selected option A at first, but later think it through

How can taking a backup of the config reduce the risk of error while updating? Making sure you got the right firmware with hash analyzing should be the answer imo. A

D might be the correct answer. Key word: LARGE patch . Yes, backup is important but using TFTP for transferring large amounts of critical data is asking for trouble.

“C” you need to recover if something goes wrong.

I think this has to be A. The question says "Which of the following should the administrator do to help ensure the upgrade process will be less likely to cause problems with the switches" A backup of your data should be absolutely done in the real world, but a backup is there in case the update does through properly. It does not do anything to ensure the update actually does go through. (Basically I agree with KLT316)

To my way of thinking C is the right answer as the question is more or less asking how to avoid any issues looking at the task as an overall "Change". If I had the choice of any of the 4 answers prior to making the change with a view to creating any issues I would select C. That way the change can always be rolled back.

I believe the answer C makes sense when I think about how anytime that I plan to make any changes to (Updates, Patches, Firmware, or Software) my network, backing up my data is always a good idea first!

They ask about "upgrade process will be less likely to csuse problems with the switches". So I am more inclined to believe that correct answer is: A. Confirm the patch's MD5 hash prior to the upgrade.

C is the correct answer, though you can verify the integrity of the downloaded patch through the MD5 hash, without a proper configuration backup you will still have a problem specially if the upgrade does not go through or if it go through then something is not working.

You'd think so, but the question is: "...ensure the upgrade process will be less likely to cause problems with the switches?" ...having a backup doesn't ensure the upgrade will be less likely to cause problems with the switches.

As written "A" is the best answer. If the Q was about recover in case of failure "C" would be the best answer, and it is a best practice. Keep in mind, exam dumps are mostly created by test takers' "memory". So the questions are most likely not exact, nor are the answers always correct. Use them for what they are, do not memorize answers, verify and research what you don't know and you'll do great on the exam!

I think the answer 'C' may be inferring that the backup configuration files can be used during the upgrade to ensure no settings were inadvertently changed during the process. That would definitely be helpful ensure the upgrade process didn't cause any problems. However, answer 'A' is also correct and should definitely take place. It's a crap question.

This has nothing to do with ensuring the upgrade process will be less likely to cause problems!

Shouldn't it be A? How a backup config can 'help ensure the upgrade process will be less likely to cause problems with the switches'? This solution can make a recovery process less troublesome but not the upgrade process.

I think this answer's more along the lines of reverting back to the previous configuration if there is an issue.
