I don't know why a lot of people here insist that the answer is C. A Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a security chip that is typically soldered onto the motherboard. When you replace the motherboard, the TPM is also replaced since it is a physical part of the motherboard. The new TPM will have a different configuration from the old one. So it doesn't make sense to clear it from the BIOS because it's not present or set or enabled by the new motherboard. "FIRST" implies the first step, which is D in that case. You want to update the driver and reinstall the fingerprint sw to ensure they fit in with the newly installed motherboard.

Keyword in the question is "FIRST" and the first thing to do would be to D. Update the drivers and the fingerprint software. A. Incorrect; MOBO replaced, not hard drive. B. Incorrect; Fingerprint software is already there, hence the fact that "the scanner works but doesn't recognize the fingerprint" C. Incorrect; a new MOBO implies that there's a new TPM, hence there's nothing to clear there. E. Incorrect; Although good practice when dealing with a new motherboard, it doesn't solve the issue at hand.

As for B, the new MOBO may not be compatible with the current version of biometrics software. So a nice quick reinstall might do the trick.

TPM is a chip on the MOBO; new MOBO, new TPM. Re-installing the software will leverage (configure) the new hardware to recognize the users fingerprint again. A is incorrect. not possible. C is incorrect. TPM is new, not cluttered. D is incorrect. reader is working E is incorrect. reader is working

Selected Answer: C
If the fingerprint reader is working but not recognizing the user's fingerprint, it indicates that the scanner itself is functional, but there may be an issue with the recognition or authentication process. In light of this, clearing the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) in the BIOS could indeed be a relevant step. The TPM is involved in storing sensitive information related to security, and clearing it might help if there are issues with the authentication process. Therefore, considering the specific scenario where the fingerprint reader is working but fails to recognize the user's fingerprint, clearing the TPM in the BIOS (Option C) could be a reasonable FIRST step

Scanner is working, but doesn't recognize finderprint anymore. Seems the drivers are working then. I would go fro C. https://www.samsung.com/hk_en/support/computing/fingerprint-sensor-does-not-wo

Would update driver and software first as it might not be fully compatible with the replaced motherboard. If that doesn't work after that i would try other steps.
