When replacing RAM on an entry-level server with hot-swappable components, the technician should do the following NEXT:
C. Power down the server completely and then replace the RAM.
Explanation:
Hot-swappable components allow for replacement without shutting down the entire system. However, for certain critical components like RAM, it is still recommended to power down the server completely before making changes.
While hot-swapping RAM is technically feasible in some environments, it is generally a best practice to avoid potential issues and ensure a clean and controlled replacement by powering down the server.
I was wondering why would we have to turn off the power if we are "hot-swapping" since the point of how-swapping is to remove and replace hard drives while it is powered.
Then I read the question again and saw RAM.
Sneaky question, now I have to read my question carefully.

Verify that the OS supports hot swapping the RAM. Before replacing the RAM on an entry-level server with hot-swappable components, the technician should verify that the operating system supports hot swapping of RAM.
Guys seriously. I know the A+ is an entry level exam, but you can NEVER hot-swap RAM. It contains much of the data in use by active applications *including* the operating system. You must always power down the server or PC before replacing RAM. Always.
Question states that the tech is replacing RAM on an entry level server "with hot-swappable components." So we know replacing the RAM is possible based on that. C would be the correct answer. Power down the server completely and then replace the RAM.
Having researched this it seems C is the correct answer. Hot swappable RAM is supported from Server 2003 BUT usually only on mid to higher end servers. Ans the question states its a lower end Server. Plus the RAM is hot swappable DOESNT mean the server is!
Explanation: Before proceeding with a hot swap of RAM, it's crucial to confirm that the operating system in use supports hot-swappable memory. Not all operating systems or server configurations support this feature, and attempting a hot swap without proper support could lead to data loss or system instability.
