Exam 1Y0-204 topic 1 question 63 discussion

Actual exam question from Citrix's 1Y0-204
Question #: 63
Topic #: 1
[All 1Y0-204 Questions]

Scenario: A Citrix Administrator maintains a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Site with a large number of Windows users running various locally attached client printers. No network printers are being used. The administrator has enabled the HDX printer mapping policy to 'Auto-create all client printers', which has resulted in a large number of drivers being loaded onto the Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machines. New standards are requiring the administrator to limit these Windows drivers on the VDA machines.
Which printing feature can the administrator enable to meet the new standards?

  • A. The Auto-create PDF universal printer policy
  • B. The Auto-create local (non-network) client printers only policy
  • C. The Citrix Universal Print Server
  • D. The Citrix Universal Printer Driver

I'm shocked that anyone would answer C because why would you need a UPS if there are no network printers in use ?

I think it’s D, UPD. Scenario states no network printers are being used so that would eliminate Universal Print Server.

No. Wrong. The Citrix Universal Printer Driver can be used without implementing Citrix Universal Print Server.

Question is badly worded as it is correct that in the wording in Citrix docs Citrix Universal Print Server is a feature, and Citrix Universal Printer Driver is a component, but clearly the answer in this question does not require the implementation of the Server, only the Driver cos no network printers are being used so only relevant the auto creation of client printers.
