You'd need some really patient users.) B: I think this is probably true. If the image template has the 'base' applications like Office, Firefox, Acrobat, then each department with unique applications(accounting, hr, IT, etc..) could all be elastic layered. C: Definitely true D: Definitely true E: I could see an argument to make an application elastic layered if it had compatibility issues but I'd have trouble arguing it's the 'primary' reason to use elastic layering.
