Exam 1Y0-403 topic 1 question 98 discussion

Actual exam question from Citrix's 1Y0-403
Question #: 98
Topic #: 1
[All 1Y0-403 Questions]

Scenario: A Citrix Architect is designing a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service environment in Citrix Cloud. During the kickoff meeting, management advised that they need a robust, scalable image-provisioning strategy that allows for easy image and application maintenance to deploy a large number of applications to users. This should include company-wide applications and departmental applications to be used only by specific sets of users. Some applications will require run-once scripts at system startup for product licensing.
Which image provisioning strategy should the architect use for this deployment?

  • A. Application Layering
  • B. Machine Creation Services (MCS)
  • C. Manual Provisioning
  • D. Citrix Provisioning (PVS)

Selected Answer: A
A for me: App Layering can run once scripts: "You can include a script in an app layer that runs once, upon system startup. The script runs the first time any layered image that includes the app layer starts. If the app layer is elastically layered, the Run Once script runs when mounting the app layer disk. Run Once scripts are typically used for apps, such as MS Office, that requires license activation the first time it starts." https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-app-layering/4/layer/create-app-layer.html And allows for easy image and application maintenance to deploy a large number of applications to users. And create images with departmental applications to be used only by specific sets of users.

Not sure, maybe D is correct. They are asking for provisioning strategies. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/design/design-decisions/image-management.html

A - Application layering makes the most sense due to the large number of cross departmental apps.

Correction - its B: MCS - per https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/design/design-decisions/image-management.html For Cloud deployments only MCS is compatible.
