Actual exam question from Citrix's 1Y0-403
Question #: 69
Topic #: 1
[All 1Y0-403 Questions]

Scenario: A Citrix Architect is designing a new Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment. The environment consists of 4 Citrix Hypervisor hosts, each running
10 virtual machines (VMs). To meet company security standards for the environment, the IT team will need to perform routine VM snapshots, data backups, and threat scans.
Which two matters should the architect consider when securing a backup plan for the company? (Choose two.)

  • A. Administrative access to the storage location that maintains backups and archived data should be monitored
  • B. There are various delegated administrator roles that will have permissions to perform VM snapshots
  • C. RAID technology is supported for secure VM backups and snapshots when using local host storage
  • D. VM snapshots and data backups are NOT required for backup purposes if an enterprise-grade, geo-replicated, high-security storage solution is deployed
  • E. Running simultaneous security scans on different VMs can reduce host resource utilization

Not so sure that it is true "E. Running simultaneous security scans on different VMs can reduce host resource utilization ", I would say exactly the opposite = Running simultaneous security scans on different VMs always increase host resource utilization. So A&B is correct

E may be true, but the question is about securing backup plan. So it should be A and B

Selected Answer: BE
Key Note (so it's obvious B + E): - Always consider if there is potentially sensitive data on the VM before configuring VM snapshots, backups, archives, or disaster recovery. - Be aware of all administrators that have permissions to access the snapshots and mirrored Disaster Recovery site. - Any administrator assigned an RBAC role of Pool Admin, Pool Operator, or VM Power Admin can start a snapshot taken from any VM in the pool. - When backing up copies of VMs for storage, ensure VMs containing sensitive information are backed up in a location with sufficient logical and physical security. - Avoid simultaneous virus scans on VMs. Running simultaneous security scans on multiple VMs on a host can cause unnecessary spikes in resource usage.

From security point of view and as you said: "- Be aware of all administrators that have permissions to access the snapshots and mirrored Disaster Recovery site.", so for me A&B... The E is from the performance point of view.

I think B and E B = RBAC Roles Virtual Machine Power Administrator (VM Power Admin) :They have full access to the dynamic memory control features and the VM snapshot feature E= is true :) D = geo replication is for HA not for Backup
