Exam 1Y0-402 topic 1 question 109 discussion

Actual exam question from Citrix's 1Y0-402
Question #: 109
Topic #: 1
[All 1Y0-402 Questions]

Scenario: A Citrix Architect is designing a new, 2,000-user XenApp and XenDesktop environment. The environment will use Windows Server 2016 for all Site infrastructure components (Delivery Controllers, StoreFront servers, Citrix Director). Machine Creation Services (MCS) will be used to provision Virtual Delivery
Agent (VDA) machines.
The environment will include two primary use cases:
✑ Windows Server 2016 VDA machines providing hosted apps
✑ Windows 10 VDA machines providing random, non-persistent VDI
The IT team has NOT yet purchased the hardware that will be used for the environment and will build the Hardware Layer components for the environment based on the architect's recommendations.
How should the architect design the hypervisor resource pools based on Citrix leading practice?

  • A. Windows Server 2016 machines should be placed in one resource pool, and all Windows 10 machines should be placed in a second resource pool.
  • B. The infrastructure servers and all VDA machines should be located in one resource pool.
  • C. Windows Server 2016 VDA machines should be placed in one resource pool, Windows 10 machines should be placed in a second resource pool, and the infrastructure servers should be placed in a third resource pool.
  • D. The infrastructure servers should be placed in one resource poo, and the VDA machines should be placed in a second resource pool.

C. When implementing a XenApp and XenDesktop deployment, the workloads for the infrastructure, XenDesktop, and XenApp workloads can be separated into dedicated resource clusters or mixed on the same physical hosts. Citrix recommends using resource clusters to separate the workloads, especially in an enterprise deployment. This allows better host sizing as each workload has unique requirements such as overcommit ratios and memory usage. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xenapp-and-xendesktop/7-15-ltsr/citrix-vdi-best-practices/design/design-userlayer5.html

This is not very clear, as XenApp-XenDesktop is considered as one workload type (aka VDA workload). I was informed in training class that to separate VDAs from Infra servers. D could also be right.

I Choose C. This is taken directly from the Citrix training material "Citrix leading practice is to dedicate a resource pool: • 1 for the Infrastructure • 1 for each VDA workload type. • For example, have a separate cluster for Multi-Session OS and another for Single-Session OS."
