Actual exam question from Cisco's 400-007
Question #: 180
Topic #: 1
[All 400-007 Questions]

During evaluation of migrating current on-premises infrastructure to add cloud-based infrastructure, a network planning team must meet three core requirements as they make recommendations on which cloud strategy to adopt going forward.

• Technology is changing rapidly, therefore the enterprise must be open to adopting new ways of doing things, and be ready to invest CapEx-funds in the next three years.
• Network bandwidth capacity requirements are dynamic and are expected to change over the next year.
• If new technologies are to be introduced operational expenses must be kept at a minimum.

Which cloud strategy meets these requirements?

  • A. private
  • B. hybrid
  • C. public
  • D. multicloud

I think it's D. Here are the benefits of multi-cloud model https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/cloud/what-is-multicloud.html#~benefits-of-multicloud-model

I get some tips from this link that hybrid cloud can be mulitcloud but multicloud cannot be hybrid cloud. Then D includes B. So D should be more suitable for the answer. https://www.vmware.com/topics/glossary/content/hybrid-cloud-vs-multi-cloud.html

B- as the first bullet point says they are ready to invest CapEx-funds in the next three years. This means they are ready to invest in private then add cloud = hybrid. multicloud doesn't include hybrid - there is a different term if it did: hybrid multicloud.

Selected Answer: B
B. Hybrid includes private cloud to save opex (when capex is not a concern) and still allows dynamic bandwidth and capacity needs in areas that public clouds make sense while lower Opex comparing to all-in public/multi-clouds.

A or B. B logically can help customer to introduce new technology and bandwidth: "rapidly". Adopt those things inside private cloud and lower Opex to Capex after that period and get rid of public part. No D. Multicloud - Opex only.

Multicloud is several public cloud: this improves prices avoiding vendor lock-in and improves innovation, because one public provider can be more advanced in some field than another

Selected Answer: A
I think it's A: there is a key sentence "operational expenses must be kept at a minimum". And also "ready to invest CapEx-funds". For me this leads to private cloud, as all other options include some public cloud component, which is very high OpEX.

Hybrid is part of "Multicloud" product portfolio in newer Cisco docs.

Selected Answer: B
Questions states "to ADD cloud capabilities". Multicloud refers to multiple public clouds only, thus it's not adding but replacing on-prem. B is only one that fulfills the add-condition.

Rapidly changing technology: A hybrid cloud strategy allows the enterprise to adopt new technologies and leverage the benefits of cloud-based infrastructure while still maintaining their on-premises infrastructure. This flexibility enables them to adapt to evolving technology trends. Dynamic bandwidth capacity requirements: With a hybrid cloud approach, the organization can scale their network bandwidth capacity as needed by leveraging the cloud resources. They can easily allocate additional resources from the public cloud to handle increased demand without being limited by on-premises infrastructure limitations. Minimizing operational expenses: By adopting a hybrid cloud strategy, the organization can optimize their operational expenses by leveraging the public cloud for scalable resources and paying for usage-based services. They can avoid heavy upfront capital expenditures (CapEx) and instead utilize operational expenses (OpEx) for cloud services, keeping costs under control.

To lower the cost and flexibility, public cloud is more preferable to private cloud, plus on-prem then should be multi-cloud.

Then why not hybrid? Multicloude usually means multiple pulic clouds, yes?
