Edge Node Design: In SD-Access, fabric edge nodes represent the access layer in a two or three-tier hierarchy. The access layer is the edge of the campus. It is the place where end devices attach to the wired portion of the campus network. The edge nodes also represent the place where devices that extend the network connectivity out one more layer connect. These include devices such as IP phones, access points, and extended nodes.
