[All 300-430 Questions]

A network administrator managing a Cisco Catalyst 9800-80 WLC must place all iOS connected devices to the guest SSID on VLAN 101. The rest of the clients must connect on VLAN 102 distribute load across subnets. To achieve this configuration, the administrator configures a local policy on the WLC. Which two configurations are required? (Choose two.)

  • A. Assign a policy map under global security policy settings.
  • B. Add local profiling policy under global security policy settings.
  • C. Create a service template.

C: Create a service template: A service template is used to configure the parameters of the client's network connection, including the VLAN ID. The service template should specify VLAN 102 for non-iOS devices. E: Enable device classification on global wireless settings: This option is used to classify clients based on their device type (such as iOS, Android, or Windows) and assign a specific VLAN ID to the device type. The device classification rule should specify VLAN 101 for iOS devices and VLAN 102 for non-iOS devices.

Selected Answer: CE
C. Create a service template: A service template is used to define the SSID and its associated settings, including VLAN assignment. You will create a service template for the guest SSID and configure it to use the policy map for VLAN assignment based on the device type (iOS vs. non-iOS). E. Enable device classification on global wireless settings: Device classification must be enabled globally to allow the WLC to identify and classify devices (e.g., iOS devices) and apply the appropriate policies. This is a prerequisite for the policy map to function correctly.

Why not the others? A. Assign a policy map under global security policy settings: This is incorrect because the policy map is applied under the policy profile for the WLAN(s), not globally. B. Add local profiling policy under global security policy settings: Local profiling is not required for this specific task, as the goal is to classify devices based on their operating system (iOS) and assign VLANs, not to profile devices. D. Allow HTTP and DHCP profiling under policy map: HTTP and DHCP profiling are not necessary for this configuration, as the focus is on device classification (iOS vs. non-iOS) rather than detailed device profiling.

Correct Workflow: Enable device classification globally to allow the WLC to identify iOS devices. Create a service template for the guest SSID and configure it to use the policy map for VLAN assignment. Create a policy map to classify iOS devices and assign them to VLAN 101, while non-iOS devices are assigned to VLAN 102. Apply the policy map under the policy profile for the WLAN(s). Associate the policy profile with the WLAN profile and apply it to the APs using a policy tag.

A is also correct. Policy map is mapping service template (which assign the vlan) with Device type. Device classification also needed to classify the devices. A.C.E are correct

It's not A since the Policy Map is applied under the under the Policy Profile for the WLAN(s) .. ie not global). Service Temple >> Policy Map >> Policy Profile Policy Profile + WLAN Profile >> Policy Tag. Tag >> AP
