Exam 300-430 topic 1 question 145 discussion

Actual exam question from Cisco's 300-430
Question #: 145
Topic #: 1
[All 300-430 Questions]

A Cisco 8540 WLC manages Cisco Aironet 4800 Series Aps and send AoA data to a Cisco CMX 3375 Appliance for Hyperlocation. The load from the WLC is distributed to another virtual CMX server using CMX grouping. The virtual CMX server shows location RSSI data and not Hyperlocation. No AoA metrics are shown on the metrics page of the CMX virtual appliance under System > Metrics > Location Metrics. How must the network administrator resolve this issue?

  • A. Enable Wireless > Access Points > Global configuration > Enable Hyperlocation on the WLC.
  • B. Enable the HALO module on the CMX appliance for the data collection.
  • C. Allow port 2003 for AoA packets to flow through between the CMX appliances.
  • D. Use one Hyperlocation-enabled WLC and CMX for AoA data.

Selected Answer: D
A single Hyperlocation-enabled CMX system is required for AoA data: The Cisco 8540 WLC must send AoA data to a single CMX system that has Hyperlocation enabled. If a second CMX system is added for load distribution, it must not have Hyperlocation enabled, as this would prevent AoA data from being processed correctly. Why not the other options?: A. Enable Wireless > Access Points > Global configuration > Enable Hyperlocation on the WLC: While this step is necessary, it is not the root cause of the issue in this scenario. Hyperlocation is already supported by the Cisco 8540 WLC and Aironet 4800 APs. B. Enable the HALO module on the CMX appliance for the data collection: The HALO module is unrelated to Hyperlocation and AoA data collection. C. Allow port 2003 for AoA packets to flow through between the CMX appliances: Port 2003 is used for communication between the WLC and CMX, but the issue is not related to network connectivity. It is a configuration conflict caused by having multiple CMX systems with Hyperlocation enabled.

Selected Answer: A
Could be A, as CMX Grouping helps to deploy large Hyper-location deployment like 8540 like below. "For Hyperlocation, Cisco CMX supports 1000 APs. Only 1 Cisco CMX with Hyperlocation enabled can be added to the controller. However, a large controller such as a Cisco 8500 Series Wireless Controller, managing 15,000 APs, has a lot to offer." https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/mse/10-5/cmx_config/b_cg_cmx105/the_cisco_cmx_detect_and_locate_service.html#id_75767

Selected Answer: D
D is correct: Any given controller can only talk to a single CMX 10.2.x system running AoA. (A second non-Hyperlocation CMX 10.x system can be added, but ensure that this system NEVER has Hyperlocation feature enabled).
