The BGP routers that connect different areas together are the ABRs that act as a BGP Route-Reflector. These devices use the Next-Hop-Self feature, in order to avoid the need to have all Next-Hops of the complete Autonomous System within the IGP, instead of only the IP addresses of the PEs and the central infrastructure. Loop detection is completed based upon the BGP Cluster-IDs.

RRs will use next-hop-self. By default, routers only do this for eBGP learned routes. In IOS-XR, we can override this behavior with ibgp policy out enforce-modifications, which tells the router to use next-hop-self for eBGP and iBGP learned routes. B

RRs will use next-hop-self. By default, routers only do this for eBGP learned routes. In IOS-XR, we can override this behavior with ibgp policy out enforce-modifications, which tells the router to use next-hop-self for eBGP and iBGP learned routes. Option B
