Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) A Cisco proprietary protocol that allows two (or more) routers to share the duties of being the default router on a subnet, with an active/standby model, with one router acting as the default router and the other sitting by waiting to take over that role if the first router fails HSRP Protocol Cisco proprietary "Number of groups" 16 groups maximum Active/Standby "1 active, 1 standby and multiple candidates." You have written a very long story. How about answers? BTW, AE is correct. HSRP does not do load-balancing, unless you have multiple network subnets; that's another long story.

A and E are correct. There's one active router and one standby router and the two routers share a virtual IP address that is used as the default gateway for devices on the LAN.
