OSPF is partially configured. Complete the OSPF configurations to achieve these goals:

1. Configure OSPF on router R1 according to the topology so that all networks are advertised. Do not use the network statement under the “router ospf” configuration section to accomplish this task.
2. Configure a single command on the ABR routers to ensure only one summary route is advertised to area 0.

ADMIN, you didnt read the questing. "Do not use the network statement under the “router ospf” configuration section to accomplish this task." therefor you cannot config under the router ospf 1. it need to be under the interface

I've not found the provide solution to be correct, but this works in GNS3 R1 ! interface Ethernet0/0 ip address 10.0.2.1 255.255.255.0 ip ospf 1 area 0 ! interface Ethernet0/1 ip address 10.0.3.1 255.255.255.0 ip ospf 1 area 0 ! R2 ! router ospf 1 area 10 range 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0 ! R3 ! router ospf 1 area 10 range 10.3.0.0 255.255.0.0 !

cjoyce is right. i did build in lab with the commondo R3(config-router)#summary-address 10.2.0.0 255.255.0.0 you still dont get summary adress on R1 O IA 10.2.1.20/32 [110/3] via 10.0.3.3, 00:01:11, GigabitEthernet0/1 O IA 10.2.203.0/24 [110/2] via 10.0.3.3, 00:01:11, GigabitEthernet0/1 R1# but if you do R3(config-router)#area 20 range 10.2.0.0 255.255.0.0 then O IA 10.2.0.0/16 [110/2] via 10.0.3.3, 00:00:18, GigabitEthernet0/1 R1#

You can't use summary-address. Why? Area range: - Used by Area Border Routers (ABRs) to summarize routes between OSPF areas
 - Summarizes intra-area routes (LSA Type 1 and 2) into a single Type 3 LSA

To summarise between areas in OSPF you need to use the 'range' command which will generate a type 3 LSA e.g.: R2(config)#router ospf 1 R2(config-router)#area 20 range 10.2.203.0 255.255.255.0

OSPF Area range vs Summary-address 1. Area range: - Used by Area Border Routers (ABRs) to summarize routes between OSPF areas
 - Summarizes intra-area routes (LSA Type 1 and 2) into a single Type 3 LSA
 - Applies to routes within the OSPF domain 2. Summary-address: - Used by Autonomous System Boundary Routers (ASBRs) to summarize external routes
 - Summarizes external routes (LSA Type 5 or 7) into a single Type 5 or 7 LSA
 - Applies to routes redistributed into OSPF from other routing protocols

Since I could not leave a main comment: Area 0 is the right command for ABR summarization. ABRs(my lab, IP's maybe differ): #sh run br | s ospf router ospf 1 area 0 range 10.0.0.0 255.255.224.0 network 10.0.2.0 0.0.0.255 area 0 network 10.0.23.0 0.0.0.255 area 0 network 10.1.102.0 0.0.0.255 area 10 .... then on the ABR's do: sh ip ospf database summary. Under Summary Net Link States, a /19 should appear. (the /19 will not show on R1) hth
