Selected Answer: B
At first glance, D might sound correct. A VM contains the guest OS. But a VM does NOT contain "processes running on the Hypervisor". So, let's find a better answer... In addition to a guest OS, a VM instance also contains config files (for example, a .VMX file for VMware). And those config files are, indeed, backed by physical resources from the Hypervisor. Therefore, B is entirely correct. Whereas D is only partially correct. Source: I am a Virtualization Engineer

Good point, but i have a question to clarify.. What is it mean <by configuration files backed by physical resources from the Hypervisor> When i create a virtual machine. it creates configuration files but they are outside of the virtual machine, right? Or do you mean that virtual machines has configuration files in the virtual machine? Thanks

B. Configuration files backed by physical resources from the Hypervisor Explanation: Physical Resources (A): While physical resources such as the NIC, RAM, disk, and CPU are used by the VM, they are not directly contained within the VM itself. They are abstracted and provided by the hypervisor. Configuration Files (B): VMs are defined by configuration files (such as VMX files in VMware or XML files in KVM) that describe the VM's virtual hardware and settings. These configurations are backed by the physical resources managed by the hypervisor. Applications Running on the Hypervisor (C): This is incorrect because applications running directly on the hypervisor are not part of the VM itself. Processes Running on the Hypervisor and a Guest OS (D): While the VM runs processes on the guest OS, these are not components of the VM itself. They are part of the VM's operation but not its intrinsic component

Selected Answer: B
Based on Cisco resources, the components contained within a virtual machine include a description of the compute resources needed to run it, such as the CPU, memory, storage, and networking. When the virtual machine is deployed to a host computer, the hypervisor reads the description and provides the requested compute resources1. Therefore, the correct answer is: B. configuration files backed by physical resources from the Hypervisor

Every virtual machine has CPU, memory, and disk resources. CPU virtualization emphasizes performance and runs directly on the processor whenever possible. The underlying physical resources are used whenever possible. The virtualization layer runs instructions only as needed to make virtual machines operate as if they were running directly on a physical machine.

Selected Answer: A
VM—that is, an OS instance that is decoupled from the server hardware—still must execute on hardware. Each VM has configuration as to the minimum number of vCPUs it needs, minimum RAM, and so on. The virtualization system then starts each VM on some physical server so that enough physical server hardware capacity exists to support all the VMs running on that host. So, at any one point in time, each VM is running on a physical server, using a subset of the CPU, RAM, storage, and NICs on that server.

Can't be A, you can't have physical resources on a vital machine.
