Per the best path rule, the path with the highest Weight is preferred. Per the diagram the RR sets Metric (I assume it points to Weight) as 20, so only the path with next-hop R2 is selected as the best. R2 is also the next-hop for R5 to reach the destination.

The metric here actually points to the attribute Weight, which is compared first before MED. R4 is correct.

As per BGP best path calculation it should be R2 as R2 received the route with lowest MED value.

Nope: R4, as metric comes first: R2 has 20, R3/R4 have 10. Now MED lets R4 be prefered over R3.
