from CCSA R80 book: Gaia provides the ability to directly receive updates for licensed Check Point products. With the Check Point Upgrade Service Engine (CPUSE), you can automatically update Check Point products for the Gaia operating system and the Gaia operating system itself. Updates can be downloaded automatically, manually, or periodically and installed manually or periodically.
