Selected Answer: B
The correct answer is B. address trade-offs between space and material handling needs. Explanation: Customizing a warehouse layout means designing the storage and flow of goods within the warehouse to suit specific needs. This involves considering factors like the size and type of products stored, the frequency of access, and the required material handling equipment. It allows a company to optimize space utilization, minimize handling costs, and improve overall efficiency. For example, a company might customize its layout to accommodate different storage methods (e.g., racking systems for palletized goods, shelving for smaller items) or to position frequently accessed items closer to the loading docks.

D. add value to the product through modification, labeling, and packaging is not the answer because: Customizing in the warehousing context generally refers to the physical layout and design of the warehouse itself, not the modification or addition of value to the product. While some value-added activities might occur in certain warehouses (e.g., quality inspection), these are not the primary purpose of customization as a warehousing strategy

Selected Answer: D
One of the objectives of warehousing strategy is Continuous improvement, if modification, labelling, and packaging, improves the handling process, by helping to identify, content, destiny etc, and storing parcels in the right place in less time, D also can be a good answer

Why not B? D seems to be a benefit from customer perspective, but doesn't relate to warehousing in my POV

Note that it talks about "strategy" and option B is more tactical and can even be considered a day-to-day activity of a warehouse.

The question is referred to "customizing" of the sold product, not of the warehouse layout, so the correct answer is D, imo
