An application runs on multiple EC2 instances behind an ELB. Where is the session data best written so that it can be served reliably across multiple requests?
" Instance store is ideal for temporary storage of information that changes frequently, such as buffers, caches, scratch data, and other temporary content, or for data that is replicated across a fleet of instances, such as a load-balanced pool of web servers."
no mention of session

While it's good to store session data in the cache for fast retrieval, what happens if the server is restarted? You lose all the session data. So wouldn't be better to use a non-volatile storage?
