Exam AWS-SysOps topic 1 question 855 discussion

Exam question from Amazon's AWS-SysOps
Question #: 855
Topic #: 1
[All AWS-SysOps Questions]

An organization recently faced a network outage while uploading data into one of their S3 buckets. This outage generated many incomplete multipart uploads in that S3 bucket. A sysops administrator wants to delete the incomplete multipart uploads and ensure that the incomplete multipart uploads are deleted automatically the next time such an event occurs.
How should this be done?

  • A. Create an Amazon S3 Event Notification to trigger an AWS Lambda function that deletes incomplete multipart uploads.
  • B. Create an Amazon S3 lifecycle rule to abort incomplete multipart uploads so that they are deleted this time and in the future.
  • C. Use the AWS CLI to list all the multipart uploads, and abort all the incomplete uploads from the day of the event so that they are deleted.
  • D. Use the AWS Management Console to abort all the incomplete uploads from the day of the event so that they are deleted.

Ans: B As a best practice, we recommend you configure a lifecycle rule (using the AbortIncompleteMultipartUpload action) to minimize your storage costs. Amazon S3 supports a bucket lifecycle rule that you can use to direct Amazon S3 to stop multipart uploads that don't complete within a specified number of days after being initiated. When a multipart upload is not completed within the time frame, it becomes eligible for stoppage and Amazon S3 stops the multipart upload (and deletes the parts associated with the multipart upload).

Selected Answer: B
By creating a lifecycle rule to abort incomplete multipart uploads, you can ensure that any incomplete uploads are automatically deleted after a specified period. This way, if a network outage or any other event causes incomplete multipart uploads in the future, the lifecycle rule will take care of deleting them automatically, preventing any accumulation of incomplete uploads.
