What should a solutions architect recommend?

  • A. Set up a new Direct Connect connection in another AWS Region.
  • B. Set up a new AWS managed VPN connection in another AWS Region.

A. The company already has a DX connection in the current Region, so just needs another one in another Region for DR.

3 dx its more resilient than 2... having 2 in one region you maintain the first at minimum capacity...

according to the link you sent, it should be 2 not 3. There is already 1 DX, so they only need one more.

from this site: For critical production workloads that require high resiliency, it is recommended to have ONE connection at multiple locations. As shown in the figure above, such a topology ensures resilience to connectivity failure due to a fiber cut or a device failure as well as a complete location failure.

Answer is A or C. If we want to "maximize" resiliency, than C makes more sense. Having 2 new DXs.

I agree. It should be C for maximum resiliency.

Does that mean if we had an option for 5 new Dxs, we should choose that option for max resiliency.?

There are two level High resiliency and maximum resiliency. High is option A and Maximum is option C (as per AWS documentation) so if being asked High we can say A and if asked maximum (which is asked) it should be C

Folks, please keep it in mind, on the AWS Exams, they want to see your respond like this one: Option A (setting up a new Direct Connect connection in another AWS Region) is a good choice, but it doesn't ensure redundancy with the current Region. It would be a better choice to combine this with the existing connection, as recommended in option C.

C. Should have 2 DX connection in the current Region, in case of 1 device failure, it helpful. And 1 DX in another region for the case region failure => C.

It's C because more connections means more resiliency. If you have money, you can make 100 new connections to the same region, overkill but technically more resilient.

Minimizing the bandwith or maintain the bandwith at minimun (in other similar question) should be with a VPN connection... in diferent region.

https://aws.amazon.com/directconnect/resiliency-recommendation/ From the above, the answer is A as you just need another DX connection in another region. Option C would have been great for max resiliency if there are 2 DAX in the other region too . so, you have 2 DAX in the current region and 2 DAX in the other region.

The answer is C. The current 10Gbps DX connection will remain untouched with no new loads, (Minimize bandwidth). Create two new connections, One in the current region for Resiliency as a backup for the current DX connection, and the Second DX connection in a different region to serve AS a Disaster Recovery Dx connection to the on-premises.

Selected Answer: A
For maximum resiliency, we need two direct connect connections. Given that one is already in place, adding one more connection in another region will do the job. So, the answer is A.

while minimizing the existing connection bandwidth...should be considered or else why write it as part of the question? AwS thrives on customer obsession so C is not going to save the customer money, must go with A
